Academic Assessments are carried out online by our Head Office staff. Each assessment provides a professional overview of your child’s current academic position. These assessments are computer-based and combined with a consultation with our head office team.
These assessments are one-off and are not required to start tuition with us. Many parents use these assessments for clarity on their child’s potential, to see if they should engage a tutor, move school or attempt a school entrance exam, such as the 11+ exam (grammar and independent)
We offer 2 types of assessments.
The Primary Progress Test in English and Math is suitable for students aged 6-11. It assesses a student on the entire curriculum taught in their year group. This online assessment lasts between 1.5-2 hours, dependent on the age of the child. The Primary Progress Test is combined with a consultation with your location manager to allow you to discuss your concerns and receive an explanation of the feedback. The consultation takes 30 minutes in addition to the test.
This test is used to see if your child needs support from tutors, provide more detail to their school reports and see what areas a parent may need to focus on at home.
This test is not suitable for verifying if a child will pass an 11+ exam.
The School Entrance Test allows candidates aged 6-16 years to be tested. It is our Gold Standard Assessment test.
This helps parents and tutors to see if a child has the academic foundations to apply to a highly competitive UK school and gives indicators of where a tutor or parent should focus in revision. The School Entrance Test assesses a student’s English, Maths, verbal reasoning and non-verbal processing. It is fully adaptive, meaning that students will not encounter the same questions that they have seen anywhere else – even if they have taken this test with us before!
The School Entrance Test is combined with a consultation with your location manager to allow you to discuss your concerns and receive an explanation of the feedback. The consultation takes 30 minutes in addition to the test.
The test timings are different for each age group. Younger children (6-9) require about 75 minutes to complete the assessment, ages 10-13 around 90 minutes and older students (14-16) around 2 hours. We encourage students to take breaks between each module; most modules are around 20 minutes long.
